Nothing excites at the Kingdom like the first day of kindergarten! So, this is what to expect;
- A big welcome to our new students at the kindergarten.
Our staff arrives earlier in order to prepare the coming of new students. Our able teachers warmly greet them with a big smile and call them by their name which develops the sense of community here at the Kingdom.
- Comfort the students and parents too!
We at Kingdom Kids Childcare understand the parents plight of leaving their little ones behind for the first time. We also understand a child’s unrest on being left behind by parents. It is an emotional rollercoaster for some more than others. This is why we ensure parents and their little ones transition smoothly to the Kingdom’s program.
- Introduction
Ours staff at the kingdom facilitate an introduction for everyone, new students and their teachers. Also basic classroom etiquette is taught at this point to make sure the learning process is smooth. Some of the basics taught are to listen when someone speaks, raising your hand before speaking, following instructions to maintain order and fairness among all students.
- Having the little ones’ attention early and throughout the day.
This is very important on the first day as it sets the tone for the school year. Our staff have planned activities throughout the day to make the little ones engaged as they have fun too. We have well-crafted lesson plans, games and worksheets to ensure kids are learning and enjoying while at it. Having a well-planned first day also takes the kids minds off their parents as they learn.
- Name tags.
Being that our staff and your little ones are new to this, we make sure all new kids especially have a name tag on them. This makes it easier for our staff to learn the names of all the students for a smooth learning process. Our staff goes further and note the destination and mode of transport for the kids for home time. This makes it easier to get each child home without confusion. Many kids at this age have not grasped their home addresses or might not remember.
We always double check in case tags are missing when the kids remove them just to make sure they get to their respective homes at the end of the day.
- Regular head counts after every activity.
The first day is new for everyone. Therefore, our teachers make sure to do a headcount after every activity and whenever they move from one area in campus to the other. Kids are naturally wanderers so this keeps them in sight. It ensures that all kids under our care are accounted for at all times.
- Brief and fun activities planned out.
We have made our first day’s activities short and fun. The attention span of a kid is very minimal and being that it is their first day, we have short activities that they can concentrate on till the end.
- As many bathroom breaks as required.
The kids use the potty whenever they want when at home. It’s different when they come to kindergarten. They are not used to having a schedule to follow. This makes it impossible for them to wait. We at the kingdom give bathroom breaks anytime especially on the first day as the little ones are trained to start sticking to the school schedule and routine.
- Sing out loud.
Singing is one of the ways we promote learning. Not only is if fun to sing but it also exposes the little ones to new sounds, words and patterns which in turn helps in brain development. The first day is no different, we sing on every chance we get!
As much as we strive for perfection here at the Kingdom, we aim to teach the little ones and have fun while at it. the first day could be rough for the new kids as well as their parents, but the Kingdom makes the transition smoother for everyone.
